KAUNAS CITY CHAMBER THEATER (KCCT) is a municipal theater that produces and presents a wide range of performative art trends and provides cultural and creative education. KCCT also works as a performing arts center, incubator, and a hub, which provides a venue for independent companies, co-produces with NGO theaters, and maintains the development of actual social theater methods and trends.
KCCT has a mission to be a platform for young professionals to work, create, and meet their audience. This obligates the theater to provide a wide range of performances – from interdisciplinary, innovative, visual theater to post-drama and immersive ritual performances and dance shows. The newest approaches to social problems and human rights in KCCT productions provoke interesting, open discussions between the audience and creators.
From 2016, KCCT annually holds a Youth Theatre Festival „Starting point“, where the newest works of young artists for young audiences are presented, as well as workshops for young professionals and city youth. Together with Kaunas - European capital of culture 2022, KCCT developed a young producers programme „PRODIUSAI COLAB“, a professional theatre integration programme for people with disabilities, and an identity-building project through artistic expression for teenagers „Dancing ID“.
